Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 27, 2025  |  Effective date: May 27, 2025

📌 Summary

WellWaterHub uses Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Microsoft Clarity. These services use cookies. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time. We do not sell your personal data. We do not collect names, emails, or payment information from site visitors.

1. Who We Are

WellWaterHub (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website located at wellwaterhub.pages.dev (the “Site”). We provide free informational content about private well water ownership, testing, maintenance, and real estate requirements.

For privacy-related inquiries, contact us at: info@wellwaterhub.com

2. What Information We Collect

2a. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, standard server logs and analytics tools automatically collect:

  • IP address (anonymized before storage in analytics)
  • Browser type, version, and language settings
  • Operating system and device type
  • Pages visited, time on page, and navigation path
  • Referring URL (the site that linked you here)
  • Date and time of visit
  • General geographic location (city/region level, derived from anonymized IP)

This information is collected in aggregate form. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.

2b. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — through the third-party services described in Section 4. Cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site and allow Google to serve relevant advertisements.

Types of cookies used:

  • Analytics cookies — Track aggregate page views, session duration, and navigation behavior (Google Analytics)
  • Advertising cookies — Used by Google AdSense to serve personalized ads based on your browsing history across sites (Google/DoubleClick)
  • Heatmap/session cookies — Record anonymized session interactions to improve usability (Microsoft Clarity)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse all cookies, delete cookies after each session, or receive a notification before a cookie is stored. Blocking advertising cookies will not block ads from appearing but will cause ads to be less relevant (non-personalized).

2c. Information You Voluntarily Provide

Contact form / email: If you email us at info@wellwaterhub.com, we collect your email address and the content of your message solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share this information.

Interactive tools: The Well Water Test Result Interpreter and Annual Maintenance Checklist tools operate entirely within your browser. No data you enter into these tools is transmitted to our servers or stored anywhere outside your browser session. The data disappears when you close or refresh the page.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

  • To understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate and to improve content quality and navigation
  • To display advertisements through Google AdSense (our sole monetization method)
  • To identify and fix technical errors or broken pages
  • To respond to email inquiries
  • To analyze user experience through session recordings (Microsoft Clarity) to improve usability

We do not:

  • Sell, rent, or trade visitor data to any third party
  • Build individual user profiles or track identifiable individuals across sessions
  • Use data for purposes other than those described in this policy
  • Accept payment from advertisers to influence editorial content

4. Third-Party Services and Their Privacy Policies

4a. Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure aggregate website traffic. GA4 uses first-party cookies and collects data including pages visited, session length, and device type. All data is anonymized — IP addresses are truncated before storage.

4b. Google AdSense

WellWaterHub is monetized through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This is called “interest-based advertising” or “personalized advertising.”

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads from the Site — it causes ads to be served without personalization (based on page context rather than browsing history).

4c. Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with our Site through anonymized session recordings and heatmaps. Clarity may capture mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behavior. Personal information (passwords, credit card numbers) is automatically masked and never recorded.

4d. Cloudflare

The Site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes network requests and may log technical data (IP addresses, request headers) for security and performance purposes. This data is governed by Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy

5. California Residents — CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know: You have the right to request information about what personal data we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information. No opt-out is required for this purpose.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@wellwaterhub.com. We will respond within 45 days.

Note: Because WellWaterHub does not collect names, email addresses, or account information from visitors (other than voluntary email inquiries), the personal data we hold about any individual visitor is minimal — limited to what is captured in aggregate analytics by Google and Microsoft.

6. European Visitors — GDPR Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you additional rights:

  • Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): Request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format
  • Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal data, including for direct marketing

Legal basis for processing: Data processed through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding site performance. Data processed through Google AdSense for personalized advertising is processed on the basis of consent (you may opt out at any time as described in Section 4b).

To exercise your GDPR rights, contact us at info@wellwaterhub.com.

7. Data Retention

  • Google Analytics data: Retained for 14 months by default, then automatically deleted
  • Microsoft Clarity session data: Retained for 13 months
  • Email inquiries: Retained until the inquiry is resolved, then deleted within 12 months
  • Server/Cloudflare logs: Retained per Cloudflare’s standard retention policy (typically <30 days)

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information from unauthorized access. The Site is served over HTTPS (TLS encryption) for all connections. We do not store sensitive personal information on our servers. Third-party services (Google, Microsoft, Cloudflare) maintain their own security programs subject to their respective policies.

9. Children’s Privacy

WellWaterHub is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to this Site, please contact us at info@wellwaterhub.com and we will promptly delete such information.

10. Links to Other Websites and Affiliate Links

The Site contains links to external websites (state health departments, EPA, Google, Microsoft, etc.). This Privacy Policy applies only to WellWaterHub. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Amazon Associates: WellWaterHub is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Some links on this Site are affiliate links that direct to Amazon.com. If you click such a link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon may set its own cookies when you visit their site through our link, governed by Amazon's own privacy policy. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
